Residential Project of the Year
Entry Criteria
Housing availability, affordability and mix of tenures and types is critical in solving many of the UK’s housing problems.
This award will recognise a developer, contractor, single housing association or alliance that has successfully worked within the UK’s affordable homes sector to provide high quality buildings that cater for specific resident and operator needs, homeless/temporary living and enhance local communities to provide comfortable, sustainable living for residents.
Emphasis will be placed on collaborative working, energy efficiency and running costs, speed and quality of construction, affordability of maintenance and overall long-term value-for-money for providers and residents.
Entrant Questions:
- Describe the reasons behind the specification of offsite technology as the central construction method or key element of the project and why this approach was chosen when compared to other offsite systems or a traditional approach.
- Explain how the use of offsite technology has provided a major element in the delivery of the final project – e.g. cost-predictability, long term value, overall building performance, sustainability, energy efficiency and quality of design, speed of installation and building running costs.
- How has the project provided a unique and innovative solution when benchmarked against a ‘traditional onsite’ building approach – e.g. quality, speed of delivery, installation, planning concerns, social value impact, health and safety and maintenance.
- Describe how the adoption of an offsite approach has enabled a transformational change in the delivery of housing options for residents, e.g. specialist areas of affordable housing, homelessness/temporary living, age or disability-related needs, living space.
- Give FIVE key reasons why your project is exceptional and should be considered as the best example this year. Can it be seen as a future example for others to follow, e.g. meeting resident needs, collaborative working, building design, aesthetics, low carbon approach, thermal efficiency, waste reduction, engineering excellence, installation ease. Will it be applied to future developments?
